See You Next Year!

Christmas Comments - http://www.christmaswordslive.com

I haven't had much time to do any blogging lately, so I'm going to officially sign off for the year.

May you all have a very

MERRY CHRISTMAS

and I hope we can all look forward to a better year in 2009!

A Special Thank You...

to my secret pal. YOU SO TOTALLY ROCK, LADY!!!! I can't believe the goodies you sent to me for Christmas!!! There's NO WAY I can possibly thank you ENOUGH for this incredible stash! You've definitely gone above and beyond and I'm dumbfounded....yeah, that's a good word....dumbfounded.

And thank you for the letter you included with the goodies...you're one sneaky pal reading my blog and sending me chipboard for my new BIA...I can make SO MANY albums with that! I certainly hope you keep stopping by my blog now that the SSC has ended. And on such a high note! I can honestly say that I love every single item you've sent to me this past year and I appreciate your kindness and generosity.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Candice Greenway Fans Rejoice!

Candice Greenway has started a blog, and I say Amen to that! I was a huge fan of hers at CKMB and always looked forward to seeing her layouts in the gallery. Then she kind of disappeared...I think she went to the pea gallery, but it doesn't really matter because now she has her own blog. It's brand spanking new in pretty pink polka dots, so pay her a visit and welcome her to blogland. I can't wait to see what goodies she'll be bringing with her!

Candice Greenway's Snapshots & Polka Dots

9/15/09: Candice's blog is no longer public. Permission must be asked for and granted in order to access her site. I don't know when she did this or why, but I know a lot of people search for her and find this post through the search engines. Maybe she'll make it public again in the future. I certainly hope she does.

Here I go again with the backgrounds. I thought I'd put up a Christmas background but got sidetracked when I saw this one. Don't be surprised if the background keeps changing for a while...I hope it isn't annoying....I know it makes ME crazy.

Did I tell you about the new toys I have?

A Bind-It-All

AND

a BigKick

I got Great prices on both of them. I bought the Bind-It-All on sale at scrapbook.com, and the BigKick at Michaels for 50% off. Just couldn't resist either one any longer....not at those prices. If you can live without the new pink BIA, I'd suggest you go for the blue one before they're all sold out.

I have a board album I'm almost done with, and I'm thinking about using the BIA instead of the rings that came with it. I'll have to do some practicing first because I've never used a BIA before...don't have a clue what I'm doing. Can you believe I've had this for a couple weeks now and not used it? I'm not sure what that means....I'm either really lazy or really busy....(yawn)

Update.....

On a really big monitor, the background takes over the whole page. I hate it. Down it goes. Thanks for your input!

Hey, I'm tired of working, doing laundry, even scrapping right now. Just playing around with these great backgrounds that I found at Scrapperlicious' site. They're from The Cutest Blog on the Block and it took me an hour to decide on this one. Not sure if I like having a background or not...and I haven't changed anything to go along with it yet....because I need your help. Please answer the poll at the right...you too Erika. I can take the truth! This is a really huge decision in life, you know. It could have grave consequences on my scrapping ego forever.

This is a little album I'm making for my niece, with pictures of her mom.

I changed my blog name. If you know of anyone that is using this name already, please let me know. I looked around and the only one I found is really a scrap pit site. You know...JUNK. Nothing has been posted there since 2005, but I don't want to be using another scrapper's blog name. Just don't think that would be kosher.

I haven't posted anything in a while. I'm working on half a dozen different scrapbook projects right now....some of them are....shall I say old? Like a year or more. Meant-to-be Christmas presents that didn't get finished in time for Christmas. A Week In The Life album. The album above that I'm making for my niece. Two scrapbook classes that I'm WAY behind in, plus the everyday normal scrapbooking that I never get finished. And to help me with all that...I ordered a Bind It All! At least I'll be able to bind my books....they may not be finished on the inside, but they'll sure look cute on the outside.

Then there's that gorgeous book I bought from Dedra Long. I love that book. I've decided to use it as a "me" book..... a little journaling here....some pictures there. I'm going to finish EVERYTHING ELSE before I start this. I am! But after visiting the Creative Therapy site, I'm so inspired to make this book. Just looking at a few of the catalysts, (challenges) they've had in the past gave me insight I didn't really have before. What a cool site. I have Dedra to thank for both.

Only four pages to do for that little album, then I have to journal. I better get to it. Hope everyone's doing great and looking forward to the holidays!

It's amazing what you can fit in 4' of space. What's even more amazing is how much crap is still in my closet! I really have a lot of stuff......I have nothing compared to some scrap rooms I've seen, but I've got a lot for one person with no offspring. I didn't think I could get this much moved to my little corner, but I paid a little trip to my favorite Target store and found the shelf, just the right size for me. And the organizer underneath the shelf, I found in the bath department. It holds a TON of goodies in it and it has an extra long compartment for those extra long packages. I really like this thing...I like having my options at my fingertips without digging through drawers.

Not quite done but it's better than a closet. I may have to attach a skirt to the table, though, it looks so bare. And I'll probably still scrap at the kitchen island where I can stand, but I won't have to drag everything out and put it back all the time.

Thanks to my friend and minibook queen, Dedra Long I won a mini book class at nycscraps.com. Check it out for yourself, it's only $15.00 and it looks well worth it. 4 mini albums in no time at all! Thank you, Dedra!

Carrying a camera with you every minute of the day leads to some interesting shots....(it's too bad I forget I have it with me!), but I did manage a few for Halloween. I had to go to the vet's to pick up a prescription for Frasier and found this cute little girl waiting to see the doc...

And when I stopped at the grocery store...

Then I came home and started moving all my scrap crap to this little corner of my bedroom. I've got a lot of organizing to do this weekend. My stuff is everywhere and I need it in one place. I'd rather have it all where I scrap, but I use my kitchen island, and I've already taken over two kitchen drawers for scrapping. Pretty soon I won't have any utensils at all.

I hoped to move to a two bedroom and finally have a craft room, but I'll stay put in this little corner instead, and just spend my money on more supplies.

Week In The Life

I've noticed that a lot of people have been making Week In The Life books, so I clicked on a link at Paperclipping, and found the culprit behind all these books. Ali Edwards. Of course. She's SO creative. She just creates and creates and creates. (Right now she's busy creating a baby.) When I clicked on the Week In The Life link, I found this list of posts that Ali had made about the Week In The Life project....and I began to read....and now I'm hooked. I'm totally making a Week In The Life book. I know I can do this....even if my life is boring and I'm stuck in an office all day...I'm doing it. One week. Just one.

I already started...I'm taking pictures. Making notes. Went to Staples and bought some trading card page protectors. Took a picture of it. Went to Starbucks and bought a Frappacino. Took a picture of it. Made my bed. Took a picture of it. Yep, my life is boring....but it will be well documented for at least one week.

Seriously, I love this idea. There's so much in our daily life that we take for granted. I'm looking forward to appreciating the small stuff.

I received a Fall package from my secret sister yesterday. First, a birthday gift and now a Fall gift. I'm lovin that girl. Look how color coordinated....yummy stuff.

Meet Maliki

Isn't he adorable? He's the newborn giraffe at The Living Desert. So unbelievably graceful when they walk. I think this is the most popular exhibit they have...I know we had a hard time dragging ourselves away...the adults were THIS close...I swear...

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Had a fantastic day at The Living Desert on Saturday... spent a lot of time taking pictures of butterflys and hummingbirds. The kids tried to pick up the butterflys but they wouldn't cooperate.

And those hummers are so hard to photograph... if you don't catch them in the sun, you can't see their colors. Needless to say, I didn't get any shots in the sun, but I love those little guys.

Happy Fall Y'all

057

Yeah, I know, Fall started a month ago. I told you I was behind! My family is coming out this weekend and we're going to The Living Desert. Love that place! The Hummingbird and Butterfly exhibit is open and I can't wait to see it and get some great pictures!

I need some new pictures of the kids too. They're growing so fast and I don't have any recent pics....still scrapping old ones.

That was just the motivation I needed to set out my decorations and clean, clean, clean. My plants are doing pretty good right now, the beaugainvillea is blooming again and I put out some impatiens now that I have shade. Bought a new fall wreath for the door, (love the colors), made this darling mosaic at Flickr, and I'm set for fall.

I'm SO FAR BEHIND!! I haven't scrapped, I haven't blogged, I haven't done anything FUN for weeks! I have awards to give away, OPB's to gush about, a layout or twenty to finish, mini albums to work on, a design class that started a week ago, and I haven't done a SINGLE thing. Nada. Zip.

As of last week I'm 61 years old. Damn. I can't tell you how I wish that number were 40, maybe even 50....but 61? Oh, that's old...it's SO old. But I DON'T FEEL 61!!!! I don't have grandchildren, I don't even have a mate to grow old(er) with. I'm still the same person I always was....wiser, but no different now than I was at 40, or any other age. So you see, therein lies my reasoning for not feeling like a grown up.....I obviously believe you MUST be married and have children in order to grow up. I didn't....so I'm still a kid. Deal with it.

And... like a kid, I happy danced all over the place last week when my "secret sister" from CKMB sent me a birthday package full of scrap goodies. I just love these packages...but this one was extra special because it was for my birthday...and because it was from my "secret sister" who's been spoiling me all year long.

Love the K&Company goodies, and the mini book (isn't it CUTE???!), and my INITIAL all blinged out in pink! And the CATS word book and cat stickers and an adorable little cat stamp! And on top of all that, she sent me the Mini Album in an Evening mag. Isn't she a cool pal? I hope I'm doing as good a job for mine.

Over the weekend I cleaned out my closet.....exciting huh? Then I cleaned up the balcony since the temperature finally dropped below 100 degrees. I'm still discovering what I can grow out here that the sun won't kill in the summer. The balcony doesn't have an overhang for shade, sun, wind, nuthin'. At least I'm learning to like the desert landscape, it's so different from what I'm used to.

I cleaned up my kitchen island too....the one where I scrap. Put everything away and now I have no choice but to get to work on my design class items. Later folks.

That's Nancy WITH A Jones....

Nancy Jones has a jones......a scrapbooking jones! And since one of my jones' is OPB'S,(other peoples blogs)I knew I had to highlight her blog as soon I saw it.

The following is from Nancy's bio...

"I'm married to the love of my life, and we have an amazing little girl. Bella. I have MS/ (Multiple Sclerosis) with secondary systemic Lupus Erythromysis. I am an advocate for a cure. I scrapbook every moment of our life.. Just in case Im not here one day to tell her all about what a wonderful life we have myself. I want her to know how loved, wanted, and what a gift she is to us and how amazed by her I am."

I think that says it all in a nutshell. At the core of our scrapbooking, besides the memories and leaving a piece of ourselves behind, we want the ones we love to know we loved them. I know I do.

Today I'm gushing over Nancy's layouts...her daughter is in most of them and they're just precious....this is one of my favorites..."Visions of Sugarplums"

Host unlimited photos at slide.com for FREE!.

I hope she doesn't mind that I linked a copy of her layout, but can you blame me? That picture is too precious...and the layout only adds to the magic of it. Anyway, it's free advertising and I love to advertise! You should see the new layouts she's posted this week. They're so full of love and flowers and butterflys. So Sweet! Then there's her papercrafting, and photography, and just sharing her everyday life with us, which is what I like most.

She shares so much of herself....and she's such an inspiration! If you read her blog for any length of time, you'll find out why she's so special.

Here's to you Nancy with a Jones.....

What I'm Working On....

I'm lovin' this Rusty Pickle paper Tracey sent me. I had to take a picture of the layout because it's only put together with magnets. Once I take it apart to glue it permanently, I won't remember how I had it! So this picture isn't the best, just meant to be a map. But I wanted Tracey to see that I'm working with the paper and that I love it! I just have to figure out the embellishments....for some reason, flowers don't seem to be calling out to me.

And I found another great blog to share with everyone. That'll be coming up soon.

Google Translator

Thank goodness I found this thing. Every time I visit Iggydodie's site in France, I SO wish I knew what was written there about her layouts! Some sites have a translation bar where you can choose the language you want, but if they don't offer it....what the heck do you do? You go to GOOGLE! (Boy do I wish one of those brilliant kids were mine).

Click on Google Translator , insert a few phrases for translation, or use the second option and type in the URL for any web page...Google with translate the whole page! I can't tell you how I'm lovin' this thing.

It's been quite a week. I took both of my boys to the vet Monday, knowing one of them would have to stay. It turned out to be the wrong one! Geez....I had to give poor Magnum a knock-out pill just to get him there, had to have a bump on his lip checked out. I thought it would be an easy in.....bug bite-infected type of thing... and out again. But no....it was his canine tooth digging into his flesh and it had to be pulled. He ended up with 3 teeth pulled, while my older boy who needs regular dental work had only one broken tooth that needed to be removed. And since Magnum's such a feisty critter, the only way the vet could check on him was to keep him there...I wasn't going to try and catch him again, cram another knock-out pill down his throat and wait for him to slow down....watching him swagger from side to side trying to figure out what the hell's going on...NOT enjoyable. So he stayed with the vet all week and it was so quiet here I couldn't stand it. I had no idea he talked so much....he really does....he talks all the time...to anyone or to no one....doesn't matter.

Between vet visits, breakfast meetings and trips to the corporate office 2 hours away, the week went pretty darn fast. I feel like I haven't scrapped in a long time, and as usual...there's so much I want to do...so many ideas in my head. Boy, I've seen some gorgeous layouts lately. Scrapbook.com has an excellent gallery of "artists" where you can print out copies of the layouts. Let me tell ya...my printer's been smokin! Then there's this one here at Two Peas that I fell in love with. I'd like to try this with a picture of my mother....not even sure where to begin but it's worth a try. I love the ribbons, the heritage look, all the little touches. Yum. It's printed out...I have my copy right here and don't hold your breath waiting to see my version, because I have a long list of unfinished projects and not enough time. If I hadn't been so foolish in my youth I'd be retiring by now and spending my days doing nothing but scrapping and gardening....(insert very big sigh).

Monday, September 8, 2008

On Saturday, I visited the online crop at All Moments Remembered. I've never done an online crop and I probably never will....there's just too much going on for me and I'm not a fast scrapper. What I did, was use the time to finish some projects I've been working on for ages. I have two other mini albums going that aren't done, three albums I'm almost done with for my nephew, one for my niece and.....this one. My little tag album of favorite pictures of my big sister. She's 12 years older than me, and when I was growing up, I thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world. It wasn't until a few years ago that I saw pictures of her as a child and now think she was also the most ADORABLE little girl! (I'm sure I saw these pics before....I just didn't remember them!)

My mother had written our names in the border of one of the original pictures. I copied it and pasted it across the layout....it's nice to have that.

Thursday, September 4, 2008

I must have taken 50 pictures of this layout at different stages, and none of them are very good. I'm going to try again this weekend when I can snap during the daylight hours....I think it would help if I laid off the caffiene too. The picture is a bit blurry....maybe it's the pic and not me? Nah.

I really like my new camera but I can never remember everything. I try using it on auto and the flash goes off, leaving a nice glare, which is great if you like that effect. Then I try it without the flash and it's too dark. OR I catch a couple of roadrunners and the pics are great! I have no idea what I'm doing.....

Well, I posted at CKMB that I have an award to pass on, but there doesn't seem to be any interest. I thought people would jump at the chance to add traffic to their site. I'm amazed at the traffic I get from other blogs, and I can see that people are jumping TO other blogs from my links...I really like that. I like for everyone to see the blogs that I love because I honestly think they're much better than mine, and that's why I have the links!

So, here's the deal, Friday night I'll pass on this award. If you would like one for your blog, let me know. I only have 7 and I have a few people in mind already.

Boy, that picture has GOT to go.

Lookey here....

Another Award!

This one was given to me by the Mini Album Queen herself, Miss Dedra Long! I'm so happy that she likes my blog....you don't think it has anything to do with my obsession for her books, do you? Well, I love it, and I'm happy to have received it from such a generous and loving person as Dedra.

Now I have to pass this on to 7 more people. I wonder who they'll be......?

Stay tuned.

Well worth the wait......

This was waiting for me when I got home yesterday. If I had known what a beautiful book this was going to be, I would have ordered two of them! Seriously! I'm so impressed with the layout and design of this book....from the perfect backgrounds that bring out brilliant color in the mini books, to the little scroll work under the page numbers! Whatever CK has been lacking in their magazine lately, they made up for with this book. Maybe it was all due to Ali Edwards, or due to the fantastic books inside, i.e., mini albums by the likes of Ali Edwards, Dedra Long and Mou Saha. I don't know. But whatever it was....it worked. This is one Creating Keepsakes book that is well worth the money.

Friday, August 29, 2008

I'm so stoked!

Look at that book. Isn't it beautiful? Guess what? I have a Dedra Long original. I'm just tickled pink! From the first day I saw Dedra's mini books, I wanted one. I knew I could try and make one...sure. But it's like mom's home cooking....no matter how hard you try, it's just doesn't taste the same. Unfortunately, for you readers, photographs don't do this book justice. I knew what it looked like when I ordered it, but when I opened the box and pulled the tissue aside...my jaw dropped. It's SO pretty! The flourishes with Stickles, the ribbons and stitching inside...it's one of a kind...and it's mine.

I don't think anyone could walk by this book and not want to pick it up! It's such a treasure....and will have a place of honor in my home for a very long time.

Thank you, Dedra, for sharing yourself and your art.

These are my nephews. Pics taken almost 20 years ago! Both of these pictures were scrapped about two years ago. I took the pages apart because I didn't like them, and I'm not sure I like these either.

A week ago or more, I went to the grand opening of the new Jo-Ann store in Palm Desert. I was completely overwhelmed.....and confused... thought I was in Michaels. Holy Moly what a fabulous store!!! I've never seen a Jo-Anns like this one....short on fabric....huge on crafts. They'll certainly give Michael's some competition out here and now I have another place to shop! Yes!

They carry the K & Company line, and I found another nice stack of 2 sided paper that's just perfect for layering. I really like K & Company, and at $12.00 ($5 on sale) you can't beat it. I spent all of $14.00 and left a happy camper.

Signed up for Cathy Zielske's design class and did my preclass assignment over the weekend. We had to scrap nine squares on a 12 x 12 page about why we scrap.... that was easy....family, friends, memories. Now I have to wait until October for class to start. That's another month...whine, whine, whine....

I now truly understand the dog days of summer. It's been too hot for too long...and the humidity is back with a vengence. I'll be staying inside where it's cool this weekend....I could really put a dent in my scrapping if I'm motivated! I keep looking at Irene Van's site..... Scrapperlicious. She's always trying something new and creating such beautiful layouts. Yeah, it's a motivator....but my work would never look like that....this girl's a real artist.

They're so funny...

It's so much fun to come home and find these roadrunners wandering around. Mom was busy looking for food to feed her very grown youngster....so I was able to get in close and get some good shots. I wish you could see them move....they're so cool! Zoom!!!

You bet your sweet bippy!

I found a package on my storestep over the weekend, and inside I found this lovely and delicious note, along with some tantalizing Rusty Pickle Paper, Rusty Pickle Alpha Stickers, Rusty Pickle Tags, and a Rusty Pickle Coupon Sheet! Something tells me this came from a Rusty Pickle Chef, and you know who you are, Tracey Locher!

THANK YOU!

@rt-thol-o-gie

I LOVE blogs. They're kind of like soap operas. You can get so caught up in the day to day drama....or in the case of scrapbooking....the day to day eye candy, and I LOVE eye candy.

A few weeks ago, a special friend of mine scrapped her little Cosmo Cricket heart out, hoping to be picked for one of their design teams. Every day she'd post a layout or other craft that she'd created with the CC line on her blog and in online galleries. The powers that be at Cosmo would then review each persons work in these galleries and blogs. Great advertising gimmick for Cosmo, doncha think? I won't go there right now, but using people for free advertising kind of pisses me off.

And that makes what Tracey did during her Cosmo Cricket week all the more awesome. She posted the following....

"One more thing for today... in the past few days I found another designer that is going for a spot on this awesome team. Her name is Lynn and if you love scrapbooking, paper crafting, and/or Cosmo Cricket, you have got to check out her blog. Yes, technically she is "the competition." She is also very talented and a kick in the pants... go... enjoy her site, too!!!"

..and then she linked to Lynn's blog. Cool, huh? I'm telling ya, good scrappers are good people. They love receiving praise, but I think they love giving it even more. So go check out Lynn's blog. It's a winner.

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

It sure is quiet out there in blogland. Everyone must be extremely busy with their vacations and such. As for me, I'm still scrappin'. I think someone must have lost their mojo because I found it....made 3 more layouts over the weekend. I've been playing with the embellishments on this one for 3 days now. I've never done this much scrapping at one time...maybe it's the Starbucks.

Is anyone going to take Cathy Zielske's design class? I'm considering it...have to sign up tomorrow if I want to do it. I hate to start something that I won't finish, and 12 weeks from October right up to Christmas is really cutting it close. On the other hand, it's 12 weeks of hands on design, something like 36 layouts. I wouldn't make 36 layouts in a year! Decisions, decisions.

One Amazing Girl

Can you read that? It says ONE AMAZING ALBUM by Paige Evans. Album created by Dedra Long. This article appears in the August issue of Scrapbook Trends.

And on the Editor's page....

This is a terrible picture, I know, but I just wanted to show that another layout of Dedra's caught the editor's eye. I'm impressed... and Yes, I'm gushing.

Way to go Dedra!! You're one amazing girl!

A Blog Award!

How cool is that? My cyberfriend Erika, over at Scrapbook Obsession, gave this to me because I have the same warped sense of humor that she has. (I wonder how she knew that..) Anyway, she said some really nice things about my blog, and left me a really nice message to stop by her cyberhome because she had an award for me. So I go, and what do I see?! This adorable award with 7 little strings attached to it. I want to keep the award but those strings have to go, folks. And the only way to do that is to give them away! Are you ready to play? Okay, here goes....

The Rules of the Game
1. The winner can put the logo on her blog.
2. Link the person you received your award from.
3. Nominate at least 7 other blogs.
4. Put links of those blogs on yours.
5. Leave a message on the blogs of the girls you’ve nominated.

So, here's my award which will be moved to a permanent home in my sidebar poste haste. Since I already have a link to Erika, I'll just link you to the original link because she was one of the first links I had on this blog. Link

Now I have to nominate 7 people to give this award to. Yay! And the nominees are...

1. My friend, Tracey Locher, at WhoooooHooooo , for her generous recognition of, (and link to), a major competitor in a design team contest. That was so cool, and so admirable.....she blogs with integrity!

2. Barb, aka Sawdust, a fellow boomer who never fails to stop by and leave an encouraging word. She's taken the big leap and started her own blog... Thought Connection, which I find very thought provoking. I think she planned it that way. Way to go, Barb!

3. Allsmiles, Creative Living because her blog is filled with happiness, because she's from my home town, and because her blog is just plain good! I love her pictures and her layouts, and her scrap space, her decor, her beautiful girls, her life! Yeah, I'm just a little envious....

4. Kary Lewis at Creating Chaos because she's the most down to earth person I've ever met on the internet, she's one cool lady and she creates beautifully colored layouts that make me very happy to look at! Like this one here. Unfortunately, she's lost a dear friend recently and my heart goes out to her.

5. Harley at Koala Fuzz who bakes and scrapbooks, takes fabulous pictures and makes adorable stick pins that she sells in her Etsy shop . Her photography collages are just as yummy looking as the cakes she makes. Beyond that, I just like reading her blog!

6. I am Derby because her profile reads..."Just another mom of two, thirty something year old whose life has all the excitement of a snail." I don't know, with two kids, several cats, and the myriad number of crafts she's involved in, I think she has a happy scrappy life.

7. And last but not least, this award is going right back to my fellow Journey fan, Erika, at Scrapbook Obsession, for knowing a good blog when she sees one. ;-)

That's all folks. Have fun playing..........or not! Please know that you're under no obligation to play....your name won't be deleted, I won't say bad things about you, and I won't boycott your blog. Thanks for stopping by!

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

This is the final layout from last week. I just had to make a few final touches and add the embellishments. Did that while I watched and/or listened to Paperclipping Live last night. If you haven't checked out Paperclipping yet, please do. Noell's insight into design and form has been so helpful to me. I'm looking at layouts with more understanding of design, therefore, I think my layouts are getting better....even if I am a "scooper".

Thanks for looking!

One Scrappy Weekend

I spent the weekend tearing, inking, and sanding...at least it seems that way. I like the look, I just never think about doing it so I kind of forgot about it. It's kind of fun, but since I don't have a lot of experience with it, I'm still testing the waters. Sticking to just a few colors for the layouts really saves a lot of time, for me anyway. I normally agonize over every decision, but if I keep my choices to a minimum, the decisions are easy, and I only have to agonize over the placement!!

I did this one on cardstock and I'm not that happy with it. I like it more when I use patterned paper, and for this picture especially, the color blue. It looks so much better against a blue background.

Here I used patterned paper, and I like this one so much more, but the scan was terrible so I took a picture of it.

Hey, I like this one...

I LIKE THIS LAYOUT! I think it's cool... Yes, I made it! However, I totally copied the style of Iggydodie

I've been looking at her layouts for so long that I finally decided to scraplift her style and try one on for size. If you check her gallery out at Two Peas, you 'll see that quite a few people have copied her style....no great surprise to me, I've been wanting to do it for a year. I've tried from time to time but always gave up...until I really started to look at the construction of her layouts. It's not just the embellishments that she uses so well, but the paper and the colors that she blends together. She usually only uses three major colors.....in embellies and papers. How hard can that be? Especially when I have this entire block of coordinated printed paper, cardstock, and embellishments. So here I am, staring at a layout of Iggydodie's, and wondering how she decides where to place the paper, where to place the embellies, where to place the pictures. You know, kind of like scrapbooking 101. Geez....so, I said the heck with it. Nike* the damn thing and get it over with.

And I did.

And this is it.

And I like it.

And I hope I can make more just like it.
