Creating Chaos!

COLOR, COLOR, COLOR! GLORIOUS COLOR! If you've seen any work by Kary Lewis, you know what I'm talking about.....COLOR!!!! Kary designs for AllyScraps, I am a Scrapaholic, and The Embellishment Studio. She's NOT afraid of color and she knows how to use it! Just check this out for starters..... click here

I found one of Kary's layouts at 2Peas that totally caught my eye and I immediately went to her website. Some sites just grab my attention and I can't break away. That's when I know it's a great site. And that's why I want to share these sites with everyone. You don't have to like the same things I do, but that's not gonna stop me from telling you to check them out!

Creating Chaos is a fabulous site....Kary's creations are so HOT that she has a permanent pass on Mary Murphy's Hot Tamale Train! (You don't know who Mary Murphy is? What?! You live in a cave? Don't you do anything besides scrapbooking?)

Oh, yeah, she's a former desert rat too. She's from a little town just down the road a piece...and her hubby's a lawman. Gotta love that. Then there's that little dog and the cat that likes water...honest, she has pictures to prove it. Go give her some props....you'll be glad you did!

That Silly Bird - Update

Thanks to the CKMB I found the stamp set at E-Bay for $11.99. Actually, it was found for me by Tracy. Thank you, Tracy! What a steal.

I've been trying to find this guy everywhere. Online, at my LSS, online again, and again, and again. Everyone is out! I'm on so many "to be notified" lists that I figure my email will be jammed at any minute.....but no. It's not happening. No bird. Nada. Zip.

This is the acrylic stamp I'm looking for from Autum Leaves. If anyone can point me in the right direction, or has one they want to trade, let me know! Please!

Desert Sunset

The temperature is soaring... well over 110 degrees all last week, (116-117) and just under 110 this week. I don't know how people lived out here prior to air conditioning. A lot of land is still owned by the Indians so I know they've been around longer than a/c....how'd they do it? The heat is unbearable and people actually want to live here. Go figure.

At least the sunsets are nice. I took these pics from my balcony. Not too shabby, huh?

I found another super fabulous blog for you guys to look at. I'll be posting about it later!

Mini Progress

I don't get to scrap as often as I'd like to. It takes me forever to get something done....but I'm making progress on those mini books I made just because I LOVE the paper!

This is my favorite. The paper is Basic Grey and the flowers are Prima Collage. I really like those flowers! I adhered the flowers and then decided to give the book a name so I'm having a problem placing the title now. The word I want to add is Faces.....but where? I had it curved over the top of the flowers but it didn't "flow".....looked pretty crappy actually. Then I tried it straight over the top of the flowers and that was kind of okay....doesn't seem to be any other way of doing it although I'm sure there are a trillion ways. I'm taking suggestion if you have any!

Tracey Locher, Designer Extraordinaire!

Isn't this GORGEOUS?!!! My goodness, my mouth is watering and that's just the back of the book!

So, I have this thing for mini albums, y'know. I love 'em. Luv, luv, Love! The more stuff you can cram into them the better. When it comes to my own scrapbooking, I'm very conservative...but when it comes to admiring others, I'm attracted to something totally different, and this is definitely calling my name!

Tracey did it again. She designed this beautiful album and is teaching a class on it June 30th at Ever After in Carlsbad, CA. Unfortunately, I'm about two hours away from her or I'd be taking this class! (I don't know what I'd do with the book....guess I'd have to get married). I am so impressed by Tracey's talents and I want to share it with everyone! Check out her post on her blog about the class and view more pictures of this adorable book. If you're in the area, you may want to sign up!

Scrapclubs.Com

"Everything you want and need to know about scrapbook kit clubs at your fingertips".

That pretty much describes Terri Bradford's site, Scrapclubs.com. Her site is full of information on club discounts, sneak peeks of upcoming kits, a clubs directory, project challenges, drawings and so much more! Terri's live video casts are priceless, (yes, I said it...priceless) as she displays each of the products offered in a specific kit....not just a picture from a website, but the real thing right there in front of you. If you have questions, you can ask them right then and there. What a great concept....to have all your questions answered before you order a kit. If you can't catch the live broadcast, you can view the podcast later on.

I actually joined a club not long ago and was very disappointed. I could have gone to Mike's and had a field day for the amount of $$ I paid for that kit. I suppose there are good and bad things to be said about scrap clubs, but if I had known about Scrapclubs.com. I would have saved myself a lot of time, money and disappointment.

Thank you, Terri, for providing this much needed service to the scrapbook community!

Tracey does it again!

OMG, I didn't even recognize her layout....it's so different and so perfect for family fun! Talk about scrapping being a part of your life..... Tracey has really made it a learning experience for her young daughter! I LOVE this idea. I would use it if I had kids. I recommend it to anyone who DOES have kids! An interactive scrap page. All of these letters are movable! What a great idea is that?!

She's on page 107 of the June issue of Creating Keepsakes Magazine, and you can find out how Tracey put this together online at Tips and Tricks.

Way to go, Tracey!

Fire in the Pit

The temperature is heating up. 109 degrees yesterday. The following was sent to me by a couple of co-workers. Although I'm not in Arizona, it fits.

Hello:

I finally landed that job I wanted in Phoenix Arizona. I can't wait to get there and get started. I sure hope it is as warm as they claim it is. Yours Truly, Craig Anderson

June 30th:
I'm off to a great start. I had the backyard landscaped with western plants today. Lots of cactus and rocks. What a breeze to maintain. No more mowing lawn for me.Another scorcher today, but I love it here.

July 10th:
The temperature hasn't been below 100 all week. How do people get used to this kind of heat? At least, it's kind of windy though. But getting used to the heat is taking longer than I expected.

July 15th:
Fell asleep by the community pool. (Got 3rd degree burns over 60% of my body). Missed 3 days of work. What a dumb thing to do. I learned my lesson though. Got to respect the ol' sun in a climate like this.

July 20th:
I missed Lomita (my cat) sneaking into the car when I left this morning. By the time I got to the hot car at noon, Lomita had died and swollen up to the size of a shopping bag, then popped like a water balloon. The car now smells like Kibbles and shits. I learned my lesson though. No more pets in this heat.Good ol' Mr. Sun strikes again.

July 25th:
The wind sucks. It feels like a giant freaking blow dryer!! And it's hot as hell. The home air-conditioner is on the Fritz and the AC repairman charged $200 just to drive by and tell me he needed to order parts.

July 30th:
Been sleeping outside on the patio for 3 nights now, $225,000 house and I can't even go inside. Lomita is the lucky one. Why did I ever come here?

Aug. 4th:
It's 115 degrees. Finally got the air-conditioner fixed today. It cost $500 and gets the temperature down to 85. I hate this stupid state.

Aug. 8th:
If another wise ass cracks, 'Hot enough for you today?' I'm going to strangle him. Damn heat. By the time I get to work, the radiator is boiling over, my clothes are soaking wet, and I smell like baked cat!!

Aug. 9th:
Tried to run some errands after work. Wore shorts, and when I sat on the seats in the car, I thought my ass was on fire. My skin melted to the seat. I lost 2 layers of flesh and all the hair on the back of my legs and ass. Now my car smells like burnt hair, fried ass, and baked cat.

Aug 10th:
The weather report might as well be a damn recording. Hot and sunny.Hot and sunny. Hot and sunny. It's been too hot to do shit for too many damn months and the weatherman says it might really warm up next week. Doesn't it ever rain in this damn desert? Water rationing will be next, so my $1700 worth of cactus will just dry up and blow over. Even the cactus can't live in this damn heat.

Aug. 14th:
Welcome to HELL! Temperature got to 119 today. Cactus are dead. Forgot to crack the window and blew the damn windshield out of the car. The installer came to fix it and said, "Hot enough for you today?"My sister had to spend $1,500 to bail me out of jail. Freaking Phoenix, Arizona. What kind of a sick demented idiot would want to live here?? Will write later to let you know how the trial goes.

After the Ultrasound

There's my big boy with his tummy shaved for his ultrasound on Friday. He has IBS. Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I could've told them that without the ultrasound, but now we know he doesn't have a massive tumor somewhere. That's the good news. IBS is good news too. It's great news. It can be treated with Prednisone and a change in diet, if necessary. He already appears to feel better, he's jumping on my bed and curling up at my feet, he's eating, he's lovable and wants to be scratched behind the ears. He's not pukin' and poopin' all over the place and I can finally stop following him around the house. I was so tired. Yesterday we just laid around all day and napped while his system began to heal. We needed our rest....it was a looong week.

I haven't done much in the way of scrapping lately. I took a different direction with a few mini albums and decorated them with no thought of what will go into them. I usually scrap around my pictures and it takes me a while.....this way, just decorating a book by slapping some paper on it, was fast and easy. Now I just have to figure out what pictures I'll use and the embellishments. I know scrapping just for the paper is a sin, but I really liked the paper. I think it might be hard for me to cover it up!
