Warren Buffett says...

No, I'm not going political...my blog will remain as is, but I found this on another craft blog and I HAVE to pass it on. I love it, I agree with it, and I'm re-posting it. That's all.

Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:

"I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only
3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this as an email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. (Personal note from me - I have no idea if Mr. Buffett is asking this or not, but it was in the copy so I'm leaving it there)

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011

1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen.
Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message. Maybe it is time. THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!! If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just ignore. You are one of my 20+.

Playing with Color Wash and Stencils

Ahhh, something new to play with, and I love it! (Frasier does too. If you look closely, you can see the telltale blue on his paw. This is after day two, day one was really blue!) If you don't have any color wash, you need to get some! The colors are so bright! Don't let my lousy pictures fool you, the color is vibrant!

I was lucky enough to catch a sale at ScrapbookingAlley.com thanks to Dale Ann Potter who happily shares her great finds. The Adirondack brand was on sale for under $4/bottle so I stocked up and bought 9 of them...(should have bought 12).

This last page was done over an old painted and glitter misted piece that turned out very badly. I've always wanted to redo it, even tried to once or twice, but it just kept getting worse. Finally, I gessoed over all the layers and sprayed it with color wash. Voila! It's not as bright as the first two pages because of all the color underneath, but it's a far improvement over what's under the color wash, I promise you that. And just in case you have any Frasier's wandering around, it's acid free and non toxic.

Wildflowers

I think this is one of the last pages I made. (One of the lessons from Gulfsprite's 30 Days of Journaling) There are a few others but not worth photographing. I've been in a slump lately and just making small things, so I've nothing to show for the time I spend at my craft table. I find that pretty amazing since I'm always at my craft table!

The old hometown had a bad weekend, the Tigers lost, U of M lost, and the Lions lost.

Be happy people.

Oct Calendar

I apologize for not having this done and posted with the Sept calendar below. I think I'm a bit confused as to when the calendar is to be done...at the beginning of the month or the end of the month. I think I did it right the first two months! So here's my quickly put together Oct calendar! Gotta run...I have a LOT of calendars to look at!

September Calendar

Another month gone. Fall is here. Halloween's coming. Then Thanksgiving. And Christmas. Oh My!!

Here's my finished calendar for September. It was a quiet month but a lot going on with family. The pictures that appear under a date are journal pages or collages that I made, or completed, on that day.

You can see more calendars or join the fun at The Kathryn Wheel.
